The first step to finding the correct color palette is simply to figure out how to adjust shades. After searching dozens of different colors, I had come across both white (for me) and gray (for myself).
Using this article, I found that at most 6 shades of White would work well. Using a neutral eye color is also a little trickier. It's much easier if you use a darker color and a slightly lighter shade, then you'll be able to choose colors you like better.
Another good rule is to use shades that you love, or just get to know the artist. I found a lot of companies where I could get help by following their YouTube videos; I did not try to just find the best shade for myself. When asking some random people about their favorite color, I always looked for people who were well known for their color palette.
How long would it take to discover a new color palette? For me being one of the very few customers that knew someone that loved and had an eye for me, I didn't seem at all worried about getting my feet wet. It was a great experience learning about colors like Silverstein or other more popular brands, it was one of my first times learning about brand name products and products.
