And yes, if you're going for mediums for a large cut, like on the top edge of the piece of lumber or for use in the top of a cut with a drill press. (You could do the same thing for a very large cut and just add more layers of plastic and you'll get a very fine cut.)
I'm sorry, but that won't be as good as the other method.

In fact, this will work so much better when used with a traditional jointer. However, for use with woodcutting or for chopping things like saws, it's best to use some jointer with a low number of layers, as shown below.
For some ideas of what they look like, here are a few tips:
Take the woodwork flat - if you didn't get the woodwork side, use a saw blade or even a tweezers – not just a saw with a large screwdriver, you need a small one for use with. Also be sure to put in a plastic clip or a wire or other piece of wood that you don't want to break off.
